Below Deck S6 Episode #928 November 2018
Wow, what a past few days this was, right? And the hits just keep on coming. First off how bout that waterfall. That was truly spectacular, and I’m sure you can count on one hand how many people have had lunch with that back drop. I am not one easily impressed, but that certainly grabbed my attention. Tahiti is truly a magical place to behold. Now lets get to it because this was not your every day charter to state the obvious.
Lets get Chandler out of the way. I only have one thing to say. The scary part about Chandler is his lack of objectivity. He truly believes that he didn’t do anything wrong and that he did so much more than anyone else to make the deck crew a productive team. I wish him all the best with his future. Time will tell. Just not on my boat.
Caroline, I was surprised that you could lie to Ross so easily about what Josiah said to you when he first came into your quarters. What he said and what you told Ross he said, didn’t even come close to matching. It’s on tape. You criticized Kate and Josiah and Adrian about their behavior behind your back and then you exhibit the same type of behavior with Ashton, Ross and Rhylee and probably anyone else you could get to listen. When Adrian tried to give you some constructive criticism you told him FU. Then when you give two days notice, not a week or two weeks, but two days, you, renege on that as well. I’m not in any way condoning the radio blasting into your room; I certainly think that it could have been handled much better than that. Had I known about it I would have put a stop to it. But you certainly didn’t do anything to help diffuse the situation that you created by not keeping your word. In my opinion you just poured more gas on the fire and then complained about the heat.
You stated that you didn’t feel that I actually cared about what you were telling me. Well, that’s not exactly correct. When it comes down to believing someone that I have worked with and had great results for over four years, and had very little issues with if any, and believing someone I have worked with for 3 weeks, and hasn’t always been totally honest with their assessment of things to me, I will come down on Kate’s side every time. I wish the best for you as well. Good luck.
Kate, what a week that was. I don’t agree with the radio blasting into her quarters at all. I think there was a better way to go about it. Had Caroline conveyed to you that she was going to leave as soon as she had a chance to speak to me, I’m sure that whole thing with the music would have been avoided, but she didn’t do that. That being said and from what I have observed in this and previous episodes, I now see what you have been dealing with and I understand your level of frustration. Wish I had known about all of it sooner, perhaps I could have helped alleviate some of the pressure for both of you. That is now put to bed as far as I’m concerned. You did a great job getting set up shorthanded for the upcoming charter. I don’t blame you for stopping to smell the roses, so to speak, at the water fall at all. That opportunity will probably not come your way again, or for any of us for that matter. These are long, never ending days ahead as well and you are handling it well.
Josiah, as I stated to Kate, the music thing was over the top. I’m sure you agree and nothing more needs to be said about it. Way to pull together with Kate. Long hard arduous days for you to be sure. But I couldn’t help but notice that I didn’t hear one complaint from you or Kate. I do appreciate that, because there wasn’t anything anyone could do about it anyway. Time to just suck it up and get it done. I think you did a good job considering just how many hours of work you two had to put in. I just hope I can get the Cavalry here in time to help. Hang in there.
Lets deal with Rhylee next. Is there anyone that you are not going to be aggressive with on this boat? You weren’t unhappy to see Chandler go and you never had any problem with telling him off so I’m not sure why you told him you were sorry to see him leave. If Ashton wanted to get frisky with a willing participant, why should you care? You deliberately tried to embarrass him and the girl he was with, and when Kate tried to get you to reign it in you went off on her. Wasn’t a good look for you. Then before you even get out of the van, you get confrontational with Adrian, what was up with that? Then to top it off, you get into it with Ross, who has been nothing but sympathetic to your plight. It’s a good thing I wasn’t around to hear that or you and I would have had a come to Jesus meeting. Ross wanted to give you a break, because he felt you earned it and you get all sideways on him. And then you tell Caroline that YOU are sick of these people. You really need to dial back your aggressiveness and learn to use it as a tool when its called for. None of these instances was it ever called for at all. It certainly doesn’t need to be on display all the time. I’m hoping for better from you, because I truly believe its in you.
Ross, you had a great week. A lot of pressure to be sure, but you seem to be coping with it well. I appreciate you shutting down the radio blasting, good call on that. I couldn’t believe the disparity between what Caroline said to you and what Josiah actually said to her. I know you are having issues with Rhylee, I do think the firm hand with her may pay dividends because you have tried the honey approach and that obviously didn’t work. Don’t give up though; two of you cant get it done by yourselves. Stay the course cuz.
Ashton, I hope you got your hormone problem out of the way. Now you can concentrate on your work. Not that you haven’t been, but now it should be easier. You had a good week as well. Way to stay focused on what needs to be done. Until we get more help, it won’t get any easier so hang in there pal.
Adrian, your week seemed to have a couple of speed bumps in it as well, but nothing to me appeared to be that serious. Everything has a way of working out. Your food and presentation continue to impress myself as well as the guests. Good job staying focused and not loosing site of the end game. Everyone is under a lot of pressure with being down two crew and it’s a difficult situation that I’m sure we will recover from.
